STRUGGLE-2-STRENGTH Saturday March 28, 2026 Valley State Prison's Facility "C" hosted its first "Struggle 2 Strength", yard community outreach. This event was the first of its kind where leaders on facility "C", Peer Support Specialist Program, Men's Advisory Council, Freedom K9 Program, Youth Offender Program, and Peer Literacy Mentor Program all got together and threw a "spread" for the yard. A total of $174.74 dollars was gathered by members of these programs.

"Struggle 2 Strength" was the theme of this event, representing those incarcerated that have struggled during their incarceration, but found strength through the community. It is also a way that those that have found strength, to give it back to those that might be struggling.

Struggle 2 Strength brought awareness to the population here on C yard that there is help available to them and gave them a visual of who they can come to for help. It was a beautiful day to see the diversity and maturity of everyone that attended. One officer said, that incarcerated individuals don't even line up like they did today, when they go to the chow hall. The food went quick, but the smiles and the impression made will last awhile. A big thank you to everyone who participated and came out to show solidarity.
