Back in the day,
when I met a girl on the street,
my heart was hard—
I seen her as a piece of meat!

If I seen a homeless man
sleeping by the trash,
I would take his cash!

If I seen a couple
with their wedding bands,
I would take them
off their hands!

The police would sweep it all
under the rug,
with just a little tug!

Now, God gave me a new life,
and took all that sin away,
and my friend,
there was no delay!

As I sit
in this prison wall,
this is my prayer
for all:

Please, Lord God,
follow these people
and myself
through our prisons,

and, Father,
let us all
feel loved!
