The Dream
Created by Lee Call
You enter a room,
It's empty other than you.
You're searching for someone but
You can't remember who.
You look for the exit but
Can't find the door.
That's when you see a text written,
Illegibly, on the floor.
Its letters are perforated but
Painful to the touch.
Yet when your hands get close,
They seem to light up,
An eerie glow emitting from
These hieroglyphics.
You try to understand them but
They don't make any sense.
They depict a great big sun
And people on the ground.
They look to be celebrating
Something they had found.
You scan the progression
Searching for something
That might help you but
You come up with nothing.
The image changes into a person
Running through the streets.
Suddenly his face changes,
Now he's only walking quickly.
Again his face shifts
And he is crawling now.
It appears he is looking
At the same text you just found.
You gasp and you
Quickly back away.
The man in the picture
Has your face.
The shock when you see
Yourself crippled and old
Sends chills down your spine.
And suddenly it's cold.
Lee Call is currently serving a 20-year non-violent sentence. He arrived at Lawton prison determined not to let his time be wasted. From the beginning, he made a deliberate choice: to use this chapter of his life to grow, to learn, and to become someone he could be proud of. Writing became one of the central ways he pursued that commitment. As an aspiring writer and artist, he set goals rooted in his own definition of success—seeking guidance, building skills, contributing something meaningful to others, and finding a community that wanted to see him thrive.
For Lee, writing is both an anchor and an offering. It is how he stays aligned with the man he is becoming, how he builds a future for himself and his family, and how he shares a voice he once feared would go unheard.
