Prisons, I'm In.....
Created by Lee Call
Prisons I'm in,
I've been thinking about this cell I'm in.
I swore I'd never come again.
They say I must atone for sins.
When will this fucking cycle end?
I'm like a rabbit stuck in a cage.
The life I had has been erased.
I'm left with only fears to face.
I got a rope to test its weight.
I've broken down inside before.
Not sure if I can take much more.
I'm searching for an open door.
I'm desperate now to find a cure.
If they release me to another plane,
I'll carry still this ball and chain.
I'm a vice lord but I don't gang bang.
There are devils still inside my brain.
I'm so far gone I can't make it back.
My mind is always under attack.
The strength to fight I do not lack,
But a mortal's will is all I have.
My mama's praying all the time,
But God, He says His hands are tied.
I've only had a thousand tries.
I'm lucky that I'm still alive.
I came here injured, I'll get out sick.
I've done some things I can't live with.
Broken hands but I ain't with this shit.
Show me a light, I'll turn back quick.
Is it my fate to die in here?
I'll admit this is my biggest fear.
Still you'll see me shed no tears.
If there's hope, it's still unclear.
All I want truly is to find peace.
See the power of God give me release.
I've got some kids I'm trying to see,
And to be the man I'm supposed to be,
But my mama, she don't pray no more.
She went home to be with the Lord,
While I was waiting to go to court.
My bond, nobody could afford.
Lee Call is currently serving a 20-year non-violent sentence. He arrived at Lawton prison determined not to let his time be wasted. From the beginning, he made a deliberate choice: to use this chapter of his life to grow, to learn, and to become someone he could be proud of. Writing became one of the central ways he pursued that commitment. As an aspiring writer and artist, he set goals rooted in his own definition of success—seeking guidance, building skills, contributing something meaningful to others, and finding a community that wanted to see him thrive.
For Lee, writing is both an anchor and an offering. It is how he stays aligned with the man he is becoming, how he builds a future for himself and his family, and how he shares a voice he once feared would go unheard.
