Every time these words are spoken,
it's like someone sliding metal across concrete,
creating a loud, gut-wrenching noise.
These words are foreign to the ears—
absence of fatherhood, lack of brotherhood.

we run and hide, like a child
who has done something wrong.
We try to wrap our minds around them,
but it's challenging—

Bio: I’ve been incarcerated 12 years on a 20 year sentence. During this time I’ve obtained multiple degrees and certifications. At 30 years old, I enjoy learning about history and many forms of art such as drawings, paintings, tattoos, etc. I like watching and playing sports. I’m passionate about helping others find value in their lives. I’m a published writer and I find writing to be very therapeutic in a place full of chaos.
